Mayumi is a 21 year-old singer/songwriter residing in Manila. She wants to introduce a fresh new sound to Philippine rock by combining Japanese style music with other genres like disco, funk, punk rock, hiphop and pop. Besides singing and making music, She's also a print/ramp model, event host, dancer, and fashion designer. Her name itself is an interesting subject since Mayumi is a Japanese word meaning beauty and truth – but unknown to most young Filipinos, “Mayumi” is also an archaic Filipino word meaning kind and noble.
Now she's out to show a brand-new rocking side of her. Music has always been her tool for expression and through her songs, we can get something that is truthful and entertaining at the same time. She listens to various kinds of music, and particularly looks up to Japanese artists like Shiina Ringo/Tokyo jihen,Yuki/Judy and mary, MIYAVI, Scandal, Aya Hirano, Shakalabbits, JIN, High and mighty color, Ellegarden, and Perfume.
